It is hard to think of a single dance style that is more associated with Israel than the hora. Although the origin of the hora is in Eastern Europe, here in the center of the “Levant” (a geographical term used to describe the Eastern Mediterranean) and in the days preceding the establishment of the state, the hora found fertile ground to grow and evolve. The inviting circle of the hora managed to bring in young and old, women and men, Ashkenazim and Mizrachim, and became a kind of unofficial movement in Israel. This year at the festival, 14 dance troupes from all over the country will take the stage to perform their interpretations of the legendary Israeli hora. In this special and exciting evening, some of the fore-fathers (and fore-mothers!) of our Israeli hora will be hosted and will be recognized for their many years of work. Directed by Liat Katz Farhan Price: 10 NIS for pre-registration on the website.
